Last Saturday, the team at Farmcrowdy set out on a Farm Tour to one of our poultry farms in Isheri Osun. Some of our poultry farm sponsors whom we had earlier invited to share the moment with us were curious to know what exactly we have been doing with their sponsorship, and we were eager to show them.
When we alighted the coaster bus at Isheri Osun and walked into the farm area, we could tell our sponsors had questions, but we could not tell what was on their minds until they had taken in their surroundings and settled in; then the questions started pouring in.
It was a productive conversation as our sponsors went back and forth with our CEO, Mr. Onyeka Akumah, our Head of Farm Operations, Miss Tope Omotolani and the farmers in charge of the farm, Mr Dayo and Mr Olumide Dada; they were giving feedback and sharing ideas with us on general farm and value chain process which they believed would be beneficial to Farmcrowdy (and by extension, their sponsorship!).
This poultry farm is managed by Mr Olumide Dada in Isheri Oshun and currently accommodates 5,000 broiler birds. Until Farmcrowdy’s intervention through the help of its poultry farm sponsors, Mr Olumide was limited to raising about 1,000 birds despite his farm size and capacity. He expressed his gratitude to the farm sponsors.
The sponsors had a fun filled day interacting with the farm, the farmer, his team, and Mr Dayo, the poultry farm coordinator who had secrets to share with them about the poultry farming business.
“We had fun connecting them with their farmers and hopefully will be doing more visits to farms in Plateau and Edo soon”, Mr Akumah concludes.
